DURING Celtic’s most lauded season of 1966/67, Jock Stein’s men won it all – the league title, the League Cup, the Scottish Cup, the European Cup and the Glasgow Cup. Two seasons later, they won the domestic treble as we recognise it today, a feat which wouldn’t be repeated by the Hoops for over 30 years.

Martin O’Neill’s appointment as Celtic manager in the summer of 2000 came with the promise of silverware, and, by May 26, 2001, his side had won all that Scottish football offered once more. At Hampden, substitute Jackie McNamara put the Hoops in front against a battling Hibernian – the full-back coming off the bench for the injured Lubo Moravcik – before a second half brace from Henrik Larsson rounded off the party.

"Winning the cup was every bit as special as I thought it might be particularly because I was concerned about the game beforehand,” Martin O’Neill told the Celtic View after the game. “Hibs had caused us problems all season and I honestly consider them to be a very good side.

"Our supporters' expectations were naturally very high but, while I was always confident that the lads could do it, I also felt that the game could go either way.

"Fortunately, the players were really fired up for it and when I saw them in the dressing room beforehand, I at least knew that we certainly wouldn't be lacking in effort. No-one there wanted to let the supporters down and, in the end, I thought we played very well indeed.”
