IN this period of lockdown and social isolation, the official Celtic Instagram has taught us questionable hair-related decisions are apparently part of the process.

During their respective takeovers, fan-led Q&As and video appearances, Broony’s let his hair grow back, Jonny Hayes and Greg Taylor have gone in the opposite direction, and Scott Bain has evoked his inner-Marshall Mathers.

Speaking to the official Celtic View podcast, Bain said of his new chop: "I thought to myself, I better not shave it, just in case it doesn’t grow back! I then thought, why not give a wee go with the dye. To be honest, I thought no one was going to see it, and then the next day I got the text saying you’re going to do the Instagram takeover, so it backfired a little bit there.

"I don’t mind it. It’s taken a bit of getting used to, and I think by the time we’re out of lockdown, I’ll get a wee haircut and it could be gone."

Playing into the Eminem likeness, Bain was seen working out at home while listening to the American rapper's tunes. There was a degree of tongue-in-cheek about the keeper's music selection, though he is a long-time fan of Slim Shady.

He added: "When I was young, I actually loved Eminem. His songs are obviously full of swear words, of course, so back in the day I would watch his concerts on the TV and plug my headphones into the television so that my mum couldn’t hear me! He’s definitely up there with my favourite artists.

"The hair has had a few mixed reviews. I had one text from Broony when I did it, asking it was Neil Lennon from around the year 2000. I sent a picture to Ryan Christie and he thought I was using an Instagram filter. I dunno, maybe if more people tell me I don’t like it, then I’ll keep it!"
