POPULAR Glasgow author Chris McQueer is best known for his short story collections Hings and HWFG, his good patter on social media, and now, his BBC documentary Noteworthy.

The latest guest on the Celtic View podcast, Chris chats about all of the above, his enduring love of Celtic, a choice encounter with ex-Celt Rudi Vata during a charity match, and missing Olivier Ntcham’s last-gasp winner in Lazio, among a host of other things.

“There’s a real case to made for every single player on the list this year, and it’s a real difficult year to choose,” said Chris. “I think Callum McGregor is the heartbeat of the team. It’s a bit of a cliché, but when he plays well, everyone else plays well. I can’t imagine how much it would cost to replace him either. If you were to go over to Europe and scout a player that’s like him, how much would that skin you?

“It’s just amazing to see how far he’s come. I remember when we went out on loan to Notts County in 2014, and hearing about all the goals he was scoring. I thought, this boy’s going to be good. But then it’s always in the back of your mind – will he make it, or not?

"And he did, he came back and he’s been outstanding ever since. What a player! I just think he’s so tidy in everything he does, he whizzes about, he’s the next captain. I think he’s amazing!”
