CELTIC have enjoyed a sustained period of success in recent years, with eight league titles in a row to boast of, as well as establishing a commanding 13-point in this season's Premiership campaign.

The run of title triumphs was started by Neil Lennon back in season 2011/12, and the Irishman, in charge again at the club, is continuing the remarkable run of success. He's already added to it with the league and Scottish Cup last season, as part of the historic Treble Treble, while this season, his Celtic side have won the League Cup, are in the last four of the Scottish Cup and are well out in front at the top of the league table.

THIS was the season the league changed from the Scottish Premier League to the Scottish Premiership and Celtic, by making it three-in-a-row, won the last of the former and the first of the latter.

Including three games from the end of the previous season, Celtic had gone 29 games unbeaten when the side travelled to Pittodrie on February 25, 2014 – they hadn’t been beaten in the league since April 28 of the previous year. It wasn’t only the victories that were catching attention, though, as the Hoops hadn’t lost a single goal in 13 consecutive games – it wouldn’t be the first time in this eight-in-a-row run that Celtic would create records.

However, Celtic finished the game with 10 men and went down 2-1 to Aberdeen and, in one fell swoop, the winning, unbeaten and clean sheet records went

Fraser Forster was the man in the Celtic goal and he created a new Scottish record of 1,256 minutes without losing a league goal, the previous one also scored by Aberdeen in a 3-1 win for the Hoops in Glasgow.

After clinching the title, Celtic remained unbeaten in the final seven games of the season but three draws meant that, with 99 points, they just narrowly missed reaching 100 points in what would be Neil Lennon’s final season as manager - or so we thought! No.3 was in the bag.

THE KICK-OFF
The Flag Day celebrations were silenced a wee bit when Ross County opened the scoring after only three minutes in the opening game at Celtic Park. However, a double from Anthony Stokes, the first in the 28th minute and the second only three minutes from the end, got the three-in-a-row campaign off to a winning start.

KEY GAME
Having lost their first league game in 29 games, and their first goal in 13, despite being so far ahead, Celtic had to bounce back in fine style and they did that with a resounding 5-0 win over Inverness Caley Thistle. They followed that up 3-0 wins over Kilmarnock and St Mirren before tying the league up their next game – see next section.

WE’VE WON THE LEAGUE AGAIN
March 26, 2014, Firhill
Game 31 in a 12-team, 38-game league

On Tuesday, March 25, Aberdeen travelled to Ross County and could only manage a 1-1 draw in Dingwall, meaning Celtic could clinch the title the following night at Firhill. And that’s just what they did in some style with a 5-1 win over the Maryhill side which feature Liam Henderson’s first goal for the club and two goals in the last minute from Anthony Stokes and Chris Commons.

TOP LEAGUE GOALSCORER
Kris Commons, 27 goals in 32 games plus two substitute appearances.

MOST LEAGUE APPEARANCES
Scott Brown and Efe Ambrose played in all 38 games (37 + 1 sub).

IN THE CUPS
Celtic lost out to Aberdeen in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup and a lacklustre performance by the Hoops in the League Cup opener allowed Morton to score an extra-time penalty and win 1-0. In the UEFA Champions League, Celtic beat Cliftonville and Elfsborg in the qualifying rounds before a last-minute goal from James Forrest gave the Hoops a 3-2 aggregate win over Shakhter Karagandy. The Hoops didn’t progress from the Group of Champions where they faced fellow former winners, Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax.
