CELTIC have enjoyed a sustained period of success in recent years, with eight league titles in a row to boast of, as well as establishing a commanding 13-point in this season's Premiership campaign.

The run of title triumphs was started by Neil Lennon back in season 2011/12, and the Irishman, in charge again at the club, is continuing the remarkable run of success. He's already added to it with the league and Scottish Cup last season, as part of the historic Treble Treble, while this season, his Celtic side have won the League Cup, are in the last four of the Scottish Cup and are well out in front at the top of the league table.

The official Celtic website is celebrating our incredible run of league triumphs, and we start by going back to the first of our eight-in-a-row success in 2011/12...

THE long and the short of the 2011/12 season is that by 3.45pm on Saturday, October 15 at Rugby Park and just 10 games into the campaign, Celtic's bid to win the league title was already toiling.

Neil Lennon's shell-shocked players trooped up the claustrophobic narrow tunnel at Kilmarnock 3-0 down, but whatever the Irishman said at half-time, that proved to be the turning point in not only the game, but in the title race and in the run of success the club has enjoyed since then.

Inside a seven-minute period of the second half, Celtic pulled the scoreline back to 3-3 and that’s the way the game ended.

Not that by any manner of means we all knew back then that this was a turning point for all of the above. There was still a long way to go, as the Celts were still 10 points behind Rangers and, by November 5, that gap would widen to a full 15 points as the Ibrox side looked out of sight in the table.

However, by December 28, thanks to a Joe Ledley derby goal, Celtic were two points ahead of Rangers and had the title in their sights. By the end of the season, Celtic were 20 points ahead of Rangers to mark a 35-point turnaround, while there was also a 27-goal turnaround into the bargain – No.1 of eight was in the bag.

THE KICK-OFF
Celtic travelled through to the capital on the opening day of the season to take on Hibernian at Easter Road. Goals by Anthony Stokes in the first half and Ki Sung-Yeung after the break gave Celtic a 2-0 win.

KEY GAME
It was the ninth game into a 17-game winning run from the Celts that changed the entire complexion of the league. Just over seven weeks after being 15 points behind, came the killer game on December 28 when Rangers visited Celtic Park. From being 15 points and 13 goals better off, on the eve of the derby game, Rangers were just one point and one goal better off with both teams now level on 20 games, the turning tide was beginning to engulf them. A Joe Ledley header seven minutes after the break saw the water swirl over Rangers’ head, Celtic moved into first place and would remain there for the rest of the season.

WE’VE WON THE LEAGUE AGAIN

Celtic travelled to Ayrshire knowing that, no matter what happened in the Rangers v St Mirren match, a win would take the title. They didn’t just win the match, they railroaded Kilmarnock with a 6-0 win at the same ground where their aspirations and reputations hung by a thread just a few months earlier – rarely was a venue so fitting.

IN THE CUPS
Celtic fell at Hampden twice this season, in the final to the League Cup to Kilmarnock and in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup to Hearts. In the Europa League, Celtic were awarded the qualifying tie after Sion fielded ineligible players, but failed to qualify from a group that contained Atletico Madrid, Rennes and Udinese.
