CELTIC have scored 141 goals across all competitions this season, and 10 of the best are in the running for the Magners Celtic Goal of the Season Award, as voted for by the fans.

Over the next few days, the official Celtic website will be looking at each of the nominated goals, and you can watch all 10 goals on the video below.

First up is our first competitive goal of the 2019/20 season – Mikey Johnston’s strike against FK Saravejo.

Mikey Johnston’s superb strike against FK Sarajevo in a UEFA Champions League qualifier in Bosnia was also Celtic’s first competitive goal of the 2019/20 season. The goal came on 35 minutes, just six minutes after the home side had taken the lead, and it put Celtic on the way to a 3-1 first leg lead. Johnston gathered the ball 40 yards from goal in the inside-left position, immediately turning and heading towards goal. He jinked inside and from 25 yards out, and with four Sarajevo players closing in on him, he unleashed a powerful right-foot shot that flew into the back of the net, giving the home goalkeeper no chance.

Mikey Johnston: ‘I liked that goal because it was important and we were behind in the game, and with me being young and in Europe, when I scored that goal I felt really proud because it showed a bit of character, and I was delighted that it went in and it was an important goal for the boys.’
