IN the wake of last night’s (Wednesday) well-contested 2-2 draw with Livingston, Nir Bitton expressed disappointment in dropping points, but likewise praised Celtic's inherent never-say-die attitude.

Callum McGregor’s 16th-minute strike put the Hoops in front, before goals in either half from Jon Guthrie and Scott Robinson gave Livi the lead. From there, it was one-way traffic for Neil Lennon’s men, right up until Tom Rogic levelled the game with an emphatic 92nd-minute strike.

“It was very tough,” said Bitton after last night's match. “It’s not the best place to come and play. We knew before the game it was going to be a tough one and we had to match it. I think we created enough chances to win the game, but it wasn’t to be.

“We always believe in ourselves. We had to chase the game after giving away two goals, but we have guys on the bench who can change a game for you, and they did that. Every away game is difficult, everyone wants to beat us and be the hero. We need to accept that, face it, match and go one better. We do that every week, and we need to keep going.”

With a 13-point lead at the top of the Premiership, and with nine league games remaining, Celtic are in a good position as they stare down the final stretch of the campaign.

For Bitton, maintaining the focus, determination and belief that has returned three successive domestic trebles will be key in the coming weeks, as he and his team-mates chase yet more silverware.

He added: “We need to make sure we remain focused, we remain concentrated and we need to win as many games as we can.

“I think we played some good football against Livingston. We didn’t win the game, but we did get the equaliser in stoppage time. During the game you only concentrate on yourself and your own game. We need to stick to our game-plan and we need to win as many games as we can.

“When you play for a club like Celtic, you have to believe all the time. We’re always fighting for trophies and we have a winning mentality. We’re always on the front foot, and we’re always trying to win the game. It’s a special dressing room. Now, we focus on St Mirren at Celtic Park and we go again.”
