NEIL Lennon was delighted with Celtic’s performance in their draw away to Livingston as the champions extended their lead at the top of the league.

Celtic fought back to secure a 2-2 draw at the Tony Macaroni Arena thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Tom Rogic.

Speaking to the media after the game Neil Lennon said he was pleased with the way his side played for the majority of the fixture.

“I’m delighted with the performance,” said Neil Lennon. “I thought we thoroughly deserved the three points.

“The way we played pleased me more than anything. The performance was brilliant, that’s why I’m disappointed we haven’t won the game. We were relentless and some of our passing and willingness to get the ball back was brilliant.

“Callum McGregor got us off to a great start and Edouard hit the post. We had a great chance in the second half. Livingston were hanging on and hanging on but in the end we broke them. We got the least we deserved.

“I had total belief that we would get the equaliser and then Tom came up with the goods. The team were fantastic and their mind set, their intensity and the will to win was all there. Against a difficult opponent, on a difficult pitch, we were absolutely outstanding.”

The draw marks the first time in 2020 that Celtic have dropped a single point but Hamilton’s win at Ibrox meant Neil Lennon’s side extended the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership to 13 points.

Neil Lennon said he was frustrated Celtic could not extend their winning run further but added his side were unfortunate not to have come away with the win.

“I’m disappointed to lose the first points of 2020 and I didn’t think we deserved it because we dominated the game for long periods.

“We can’t give away sloppy goals against any opposition because I don’t want us to be chasing games. We set standards and the standards are set high. These are the first points we’ve dropped which is bitterly disappointing but in the context of the evening it’s okay.

“Tom’s been great. In recent weeks he’s been outstanding. Astroturf pitches aren’t great for him but we knew at some stage we’d need him. We got a good 25 minutes out of him and he came on to give us an important goal.

“I was pleased with them all. It’s a privilege for me to manage this team.”
