ONE year on from returning to the dugout as Celtic manager, Neil Lennon is proud of everything his team have accomplished but added there is still work to be done as Celtic aim to continue their European run.

Neil Lennon managed his first game in charge in his second spell at the club exactly one year ago today when Celtic defeated Hearts at Tynecastle in the league.

The Hoops have gone from strength to strength in the last 12 months, and Neil Lennon’s side are on the brink of making more history tonight (Thursday).

Celtic’s 1-1 draw away to Copenhagen the first leg of their Europa League last 32 tie last week has put the Scottish champions in a good position coming into tonight’s return leg at Paradise.

The manager said the Danish champions will be difficult to get past, but added the backing of the Celtic supporters inside Paradise will be a big boost for his side.

“Copenhagen are a dangerous team and there’s no formalities at this stage of the competition for anyone,” said Neil Lennon. “It’s 1-1 and the tie could psychologically switch for either team. Hopefully we can get the first goal and get on the front foot, but we have to earn the right to play.

“They’ll try and come and win the match. Stale Solbakken has mixed and matched his teams for the domestic games. He’s made a few changes, but he may throw all his eggs in one basket for this game and that makes him a very dangerous opponent.”

If Celtic triumph in the tie against Copenhagen they will progress to the last 16 of the Europa League and the manager said the opportunity is a big incentive for his side and praised his players and backroom staff for their achievements.

“It’s another opportunity to go further in Europe, which is what we want to do,” he said. “We want to play against the best in Europe and there’s some quality sides in this competition. I’m not getting carried away because we have a very difficult game to deal with.

“I have a great backroom staff and the players have been fantastic. We still have a bit of work to do this season to get to where we want to be. I’m delighted with the way things have gone but there’s still a couple of months in the season to go.

“I’m delighted with the team and proud of this style of football they’re playing at the minute. Every one of them have made a positive contribution this team.”
