NEIL Lennon said Copenhagen’s second half display last week highlights how dangerous a side they are, but the Celtic manager insists his side has the mentality needed to progress, and will be helped along by the support inside Paradise.

Celtic face Copenhagen in the second leg of their Europa League last 32 tie tomorrow (Thursday) night at Paradise, one week on from their 1-1 draw in the Danish capital.

The Scottish champions have a vital away goal, and were the stronger side in the first half, but their opponents showed how much of an attacking threat they could be with an improved second-half performance.

Looking back on the first 90 minutes of the tie, Neil Lennon said he and his players are taking nothing as read.

“There’ll be no complacency or taking anything for granted,” said the Hoops boss. “Copenhagen gave us a really tough second half out there and we had to work really hard to avoid going behind.

“We didn’t start the second half well. We counter-attacked well, but we can play a lot better than we did after the break. The first-half performance was superb but we weren’t able to carry that on.

“Maybe a draw was a fair result on the night but, with the chances we created, we felt we could have come away with a win.”

Celtic will have the home advantage as they look to extend their European run into March. The support of a packed Celtic Park will be a big boost for Celtic and Neil Lennon called on the Hoops faithful to lend their support.

“The mentality has been fantastic so far and I want it to continue and for us to be in the last 16,” he said. “We’re good enough to do that but we’re going to have to play well.

“We’re at home and have an amazing support. The support on Sunday against Kilmarnock to going a goal down was fantastic and we’re going to need all of that. It’s going to be a big European night and one to savour, hopefully.

“I didn’t think there was much between the teams in the throws of the game. The tie’s still there for both teams.”

Scott Brown and James Forrest were both absent from Celtic’s 3-1 win over Kilmarnock at the weekend and Neil Lennon gave an update on the fitness of the pair ahead of tomorrow’s game.

“James and Scott are both fit but Ollie is not and will be out for another week,” confirmed Neil Lennon. “It’s a great boost to have Scott back. We had a great win at the weekend but having Scott, with his experience and the way he’s been playing this season, back in the team is a big confidence boost for the squad. Jamesy’s a big-game player.”
