LAST month, the Celtic FC Women’s team moved to professional status for the first time. Last night (Tuesday), some of squad’s biggest and brightest stars joined new Head Coach, Fran Alonso for a live Q&A session at Paradise to mark the official launch of the Hoops’ inaugural professional season.

Hosted by Celtic TV’s Gerry McCulloch, the event, sponsored by Indigo Unified Communications, saw Fran Alonso, squad captain Kelly Clark, and new signings Lisa Robertson and Sarah Teegarden answering questions from audience members, as they look ahead to an exciting professional era for the girls in green and white.

“We have gelled together in such a short space of time working together,” said Fran Alonso on stage at last night’s event. “We became a family in Gran Canaria and I’m very excited about our league opener on Friday night.”

Ahead of Celtic’s league opener on Friday against Glasgow City at K-Park, the manager added: “The fans are the most important part. It would be wonderful to see a full support at K-Park and hopefully we can give supporters something to cheer about.”

Teegarden, who joined the club last month, said she’s delighted to be part of the Celtic FC Women’s side at such an important time, and looks forward to making more history in the season ahead.

Captain Clark agreed, and continued: “Going professional is an honour and the standard is really high. We are moving in the right direction. We are looking forward to the league season.”
