NEIL Lennon feels the momentum from Celtic’s current winning run will be important tonight (Wednesday) for what he anticipates will be a difficult game against Motherwell.

Celtic head for Fir Park having won the five from five since returning from the winter break and will be looking to maintain their seven-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership with another win.

However, Neil Lennon is under no illusions as to how difficult a task Celtic face in overcoming Motherwell at their own ground.

“We know it’s going to be a difficult game,” said the manager. “Stephen has them playing very well and they are having a good season. it’s a difficult ground to go to, but we’re keen to keep the momentum going.

“Motherwell are a good side and they play nice football. Long is a danger man, they have good pace in the wide areas and good rotation in midfield. We’re in for a difficult game, we know that, but we’ve negotiated the last two games well and tonight's a different one, but one we want to win.”

Celtic’s recent run of results has seen the Scottish champions rack up the most league goals of any team in Europe with 68, and they have the best goal difference of any team in the continent with 53.

Neil Lennon said he is happy with the number of players who have been contributing with goals and added he is pleased with the striking partnership between Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths.

“I’m so pleased for James Forrest, he’s on 16 goals now and that’s a great return for a wide man,” said the Celtic manager. “Ryan’s on 17 and Odsonne’s on great form with 22 now. Callum McGregor’s pitching in, Jullien’s scoring and Ntcham got one recently as well so we look a threat from different areas.

“Edouard and Griffiths are two intelligent players and they’re enjoying playing together. Edouard’s in great form at the minute. Griffiths has come back and is scoring goals. He got the 90 minutes under his belt and psychologically that’ll be great for him.”

The manager also commented on Stephen Welsh after the Academy Bhoy’s impressive debut against Hamilton Accies on Sunday and gave an update on some players returning from injury.

“We’re just looking at Jonny Hayes. He has a stiff calf and will be monitored. Elyounoussi and Simunovic are back in the squad. We’re hoping Frimpong will be back in training on Monday.

“Stephen Welsh is still part of our plans. I thought he was excellent. He was faultless and that’s as good a debut as you’ll see. He came in and slotted in there seamlessly. I’m absolutely delighted with him.”
