IN the aftermath of today’s (Sunday) confident 2-0 win over Hibernian, Neil Lennon said he was pleased to see his men on form and creating chances in front of goal.

The Irishman said that , while the scoreline failed to reflect his side’s dominance, he was pleased with the clear-cut opportunities they carved over 90 minutes. Today’s victory ensured the Scottish champions restored their two-point gap at the top of the Premiership, ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Hearts.

“I was so pleased with the quality of chances we created,” said the manager. “We didn’t always take them, but from 15-20 minutes in, we were dominant. We could have racked up a bit more, but in terms of quality of overall performance, I thought we were outstanding.

“I thought the midfield three were outstanding, and Frimpong is one of the best kids I’ve seen at that age. Odsonne getting his goal will do him the world of good as well. He’s tired, but he’s got a few days to rest now and we hope he’s fit for selection on Wednesday.”

First-half goalscorer Jeremie Frimpong was every bit worthy of his Man of the Match award, and has enjoyed an incredible start to his career at Paradise since joining in the summer.

Neil Lennon added: “I’m delighted with what Frimpong brings to the team – offensively and defensively. He thoroughly deserved his goal, he’s an outstanding talent and just watching him makes me tired, the way he runs up and down that line.

“With younger players, we want to look after him, but we can’t hold talent back. The big question a few months ago was - could he translate his training performance into games, and he’s done that. He’s playing with great players, it must be said, but he’s done that.”

Celtic now close out the year with a trip to Tynecastle on Wednesday, Aberdeen at Paradise on Saturday, St Mirren in Paisley on Boxing Day, and a Glasgow derby at Celtic Park on the 29th of the month. Before all of that, the draw for the UEFA Europa League last 32 takes place tomorrow, Monday, December 15.

Speaking of that, the manager added: “There are a lot of good teams in there, we’re excited, but we’ll see who we get. We’ll see what the draw brings.”
