JEREMIE Frimpong said he was ecstatic to score his first goal at Paradise in Celtic’s 2-0 win against Hibernian and added that having the support of the manager was a huge boost for his confidence.

The 18-year-old scored his second goal in the Hoops, and his first at home, as Celtic maintained their two-point lead at the top of the table with a win over Hibernian.

Frimpong scored the opener and went on to collect another Man of the Match award for his impressive performance on the right wing. Speaking to the media immediately after the game, the Dutch youngster discussed how it felt to score his first goal at Paradise and said he was comfortable in either defence or midfield.

“I’m delighted to score my first home goal,” he said. “The team played amazing, we deserved the two goals and we’re going to keep that up.

“I’ve been practicing my finishing in training and practice makes perfect. Playing further up is new to me but the manager told me to go and do that job and I did. I can play both full-back and winger. The fans are amazing and to score in front of them is the best feeling.”

Frimpong said that Neil Lennon has been very supportive of him following his sending off in last weekend’s League Cup final win and he is now focused on maintaining his current form.

“The manager told me not to worry about it,” he said when asked about the League Cup final. “He said I played well and if the manager said I played good then it makes you feel warm. It’s always good to get the manager on your side.

“I was happy overall that the team won and I one my first final, that was amazing. I hope this continues. When I step on the pitch I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing. We’re a great team. It’s not easy for teams to beat us.”
