FRASER Forster feels Celtic’s win overRennes in the Europa League last night (Thursday) will help keep the momentum going into a crucial period of fixtures.

The Scottish champions secured top spot in Group E with a game remaining after convincingly defeating Rennes 3-1 at Paradise.

Forster was positive when reflecting on what was another impressive performance for Celtic in Europe.

“It was a good result and good to win at home again,” said the Celtic goalkeeper. “It helps keep up that momentum which will be important in the busy run of games we have coming up. It was a good performance and keeps that run we have in the Europa League going.

“That’s a points' record for us, so it’s something special and another achievement that will give us confidence.

“It’s obviously really nice when people are saying positive things about us and we’re breaking records.

“It was disappointing to lose the goal near the end but it was one of those. It was a good cross and he just got in front of us. In the last 20 minutes, the job was done so it didn’t undermine how good the performance was and how impressive the result was.”

Neil Lennon’s side have little time to recover with a trip to Dingwall to face Ross County just two days away. It will be the first of nine games Celtic will play in the month of December before the winter break.

With a narrow lead at the top of the league table and the League Cup final just over a week away, every game will be crucial for Celtic and Forster said last night’s win will be important in ensuring the Hoops go into the games in the best possible form.

“We have a busy period coming up now so it’s great to have secured the top spot in the group and we can just really concentrate on winning each of these domestic games coming up now,” said Forster. “We’re obviously looking forward to the cup final, but we have two league games before them and they’ll require our full concentration.

“It’s not difficult to maintain the focus because it’s routine for us. It’s something we’ve always done. We’ll recover well and get ready for Sunday now.

“There are so many games and there are going to be injuries and suspensions so we’ll need everyone. It’s a good opportunity for different players to come in and play.

"We get to see the quality they have every day. Lewis Morgan came in, played up front and did an absolutely fantastic job. It’s a good chance for those lads to get gam- time and if they come in and do well, they’ll make it hard for the manager to leave them out.”
