Resolutions 1-11 were put before the shareholders and were passed in near unanimous agreement. For Resolution 12, which was requisitioned on behalf of members, a poll was called and voting took place at the end of the AGM, with the result to published on the company’s website.

The first Resolution sought to confirm the Auditor’s Report, the Strategic report and the Directors’ Report for the year ended June 30, 2019.

Resolutions 2-4 saw Dermot Desmond, Tom Allison and Brian Wilson re-elected to the board. Resolution 5 saw the re-election of Peter Lawwell as Chief Executive. Resolution 6 saw Chris McKay re-elected as Finance Director.

BDO LLP were re-appointed as auditors of the company after Resolution 7 was passes, while shareholders also passed Resolutions 8 and 9, which, respectively, authorised the directors to determine the remuneration of the auditors and granted the directors authority to allot shares.

Resolution 10, which allowed the directors to offer to holders of any particular shares, the right to elect to receive Ordinary Shares, credited as fully paid, instead of cash in respect of all or part of a dividend, was passes, and Resolution 11, a special resolution, linked to Resolution 9, to grant the directors authority to disapply pre-emotion rights, was also passed.

Resolution 12 was an ordinary resolution, requisitioned on behalf of members.

Following the completion of the formal business of the AGM, a report on the Celtic Park matchday facilities and accessibility was made, which included a video presentation with the club’s Supporter Liaison Officer, John Paul Taylor and Disability Access Officer, Alexis Dobbin.

The meeting was then opened to the floor for general questions, with a variety of issues raised by shareholders. Peter Lawwell spoke about the ambitions of the club, and explained the club’s approach in terms of developing young players and recruiting talented players from elsewhere to develop.

Both he and Neil Lennon had spoken in their video interviews about the value of stability within the club and also of the importance of the appointment of Nick Hammond as Head of Football Operations, with player recruitment an important dimension for the club.

Neil Lennon also praised the players for their efforts since his return to Celtic as manager back at the end of February, both those established players already at the club and the players who joined during the recent transfer window. And the manager also spoke about areas of the team he might be looking to strengthen this coming January.

Peter Lawwell also spoke about key areas for the board in relation to the partial closing of the rail seating area for this Thursday night’s game – namely the safety of supporters attending Celtic Park, and the good name and reputation of the club.

And the multi-million pound redevelopment of Barrowfield was spoken about, both in the video presentations and during the Q&A section, with it being identified as a priority for the club, providing a world-class facility near to the stadium that will be particularly beneficial throughout the winter months.

The meeting ended on an emotional note with a special tribute paying tribute to Celtic legends, Billy McNeill and Stevie Chalmers, who both passed away earlier this year.
