NEIL Lennon praised his players’ character as he talked up Celtic’s motivation going into this weekend’s League Cup semi-final against Hibernian.

Celtic will continue the defence of the League Cup tomorrow (Saturday) against Hibernian as the Treble Treble winners look to book their place in next month’s final.

The Scottish champions have completely dominated all domestic competitions over the last three years with a clean sweep of silverware.

Neil Lennon insisted the winning run has not curbed the appetite for more success and has in fact only made his side more determined to overcome the challenge Hibernian pose.

“We’re looking forward to it,” said the Hoops boss. “It’s part of the domestic trophy haul that we’ve kept hold of the last three years.

“The players are highly-motivated to defend them and they’re in great form at the minute. They’ve had an amazing time in the cups over the last three seasons and there’s real pride in them wanting to protect their record.”

Celtic’s recent form has yielded a win over Lazio in the Europa League and 12 goals without reply in their last three league games. Neil Lennon has been happy with the current performances from his side and said Celtic are fully prepared to continue that form going into tomorrow’s semi-final.

“I’m really pleased the style of play and the results and I’m pleased with the preparation, application and bravery,” he said. “They’re under pressure in every game and they’re responding brilliantly so I couldn’t be happier with what we’re seeing at the minute.

“We’ve given this our full preparation. The squad is ready, we’ve gone through the preparations today and we’re looking forward to the game. Some of the results Hibs have had haven’t reflected their performances. Within five or six draws they maybe could have won one or two.

“Hibs, on their day, are a good side. These guys aren’t complacent and don’t take anything for granted. Hibs are the main obstacle rather than our mind-set. Our mind-set is good at the minute. We’ll have to play well, and the way we are playing at the minute it’s going to take a good team to stop us. If replicate our recent form from the last few weeks we should be in for a good day.”
