JEREMIE Frimpong has only been in Glasgow for a couple of months, but the 18-year-old defender is feeling right at home in the Hoops and is excited by how much he has learned already.

He has now made three appearances for Neil Lennon’s first-team, and was delighted after opening his scoring account in the 4-0 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday. For the Dutch defender, whose three appearances for Celtic represent, to date, his only senior games, it has been a dream start to his Celtic career.

However, he remains level-headed and realises that much hard work lies ahead as he looks to progress. He also knows that he’s in the right place, and working with the right coaches and players to ensure that he has the best chance of that happening.

“I know 100 per cent that this was the right decision to come to Celtic,” Frimpong told the official match programme for tonight's match with St Mirren. “It’s an amazing club to be a part of and I know I can fulfil my potential here, so it’s really good.

“Glasgow feels more like home now. When I first came it felt strange, but now everything feels normal and I can call it my home.

“The training has been really enjoyable. It’s hard work and I’m enjoying it every day. We have a great changing room full of really good people and there’s so much quality there too, so I’m learning every day and I’m doing that surrounded by the right people.”

Having made his debut in the 5-0 League Cup victory over Partick Thistle at the end of September, Frimpong followed up that Man of the Match performance with another impressive showing in the 6-0 win over Ross County, when he was involved in three of Celtic’s goals, including a superb assist for James Forrest.

And on Sunday against Aberdeen, he continued in the same vein, this time adding a goal to his overall contribution. It has been a great start to life at Celtic, but the teenager is not getting carried away.

“I’m still happy after scoring the goal but I won’t let it get to my head,” he said. “I know I need to stay focused and get ready for the next game.

“I’m naturally quite grounded so I don’t get carried away by things. I know I haven’t done anything yet. I’ve just played a couple of games so, obviously, I’m just going to keep that up for now and stay focused on the challenges ahead.”
