FRASER Forster revealed the atmosphere inside Paradise during Thursday night’s win over Lazio in the Europa League left him lost for words and he admitted the sense of occasion created by the fans was why he returned to the club.

The Hoops goalkeeper played a huge part in Celtic’s 2-1 impressive victory over Lazio, not least his stunning save in the final seconds of the game which prevented the Italian side from grabbing an equaliser and denying Neil Lennon's side the win.

Danilo Cataldi struck a rocket of a volley from the edge of the penalty area which was heading for the top corner before Forster made the all-important save. And speaking after the game, the Englishman admitted he was delighted with the win and happy to have played a part in it.

“It’s nice it went my way,” said Forster. “There have been plenty of games were those could have gone in. It was nice to make the save and contribute to what was a fantastic team performance.

“He caught it so sweet and it was purely a reaction save. I’m buzzing that I made that. It would have been heart-breaking to concede it after we scored late on to make it 2-1. It’s nice to do my bit for the team, and everyone’s done a fantastic job in front of me.”

Christopher Jullien’s late goal made for a thrilling European night at Celtic Park as Neil Lennon’s side came from a goal down to secure the win which their performance merited.

The comeback, and late chance for the Serie A side, only added to the sense of elation at the final whistle and Forster admitted he was moved by the scenes of celebration at the final whistle.

“That’s what I came back to Celtic for, to play in these games,” said the 31-year-old. “To have those moments again is what I’ve really missed. I can’t describe the feeling. It’s that feeling that I’ve missed and that’s ultimately why I came back.

“Having had the 18 months I’ve had and the low points I’ve gone through, that one day I’ll chat about, to then come back and have that is something very special. The fans at the end were amazing, I could bawl my eyes out. It was a very special moment and I don’t think anyone will really know how much it means to me.”
