CELTIC will come up against Serie A’s top goalscorer tonight in Ciro Immobile. The Lazio striker has nine league goals so far, along with one strike in the Europa League and a goal for Italy. So he is an obvious danger man for the Hoops players to deal with when the sides clash in the UEFA Europa League at Celtic Park.

Immobile’s latest efforts came in the weekend’s 3-3 draw with Atalanta, when Lazio came back from 3-0 down to salvage a point. Their striker hit a double, both goals coming from the penalty spot, and he will be aiming to fire his side to victory in Glasgow tonight.

And while Neil Lennon knows it will be a tough test for his side, it’s one that the Celtic manager and his players are looking forward to.

“Lazio are a good side full of quality players,” the Celtic manager said. “They have the leading striker in Serie A in Ciro Immobile. They have good strikers with him and Joaquín Correa. Luis Alberto is a very technical playmaker and Savic is probably one of the best midfielders in Europe.

“They’re packed with lots of quality going forward. I expect the game to be open the way both teams are playing and I think we have all the ingredients of a very exciting game ahead.

“To be 3-0 down to Atalanta them and come back shows a lot of character. Their obviously a team who fight until the very end and we have to be aware of that.

“This is the key game because it’s the next one. The group is tight, and you wouldn’t write Rennes out of it either. Anything can happen and the group can go either way.

“If we were to win against Lazio, it would be great and if we were to lose it wouldn’t be a disaster. We’re positive about things and are hoping to get a positive result tonight.

“They’re a very smart team. Our players will come up against a striking partnership, which is something they don’t face very often in a 3-5-2. We have to be ready for that, be smart and play with our tempo, energy and get the crowd behind is. We have to be mindful that they can counter-attack and hurt us and we’re ready for that.

“We’re at home and we’re going to play the way we play. If that means being aggressive, that suits our players, our pitch and atmosphere. We won’t allow Lazio to settle into the game and dictate the tempo of it.”
