NEIL Lennon didn’t envy those who had to choose Saturday’s Man of the Match, given the quality of the team performance. There were many candidates in the running, though in the event, the stadium award was given to two-goal hero, Odsonne Edouard.

And his manager was fulsome in his praise for the French striker, who has now hit 10 goals this season for the Hoops.

“I don’t want to wax lyrical about him every week, although he’s not that type of kid to get carried away, but you can see he’s in a good place,” said the Celtic manager.

“He’s a beautiful mover of the ball and his link-up play is getting better. I’m so happy he got the goal just after half-time because he deserved it, because he had a couple of good opportunities in the first half.

“He’s always a threat. He complements the players that are around him, he’s become more and more reliable and the volume of goals is testament to his own improvement.”

Celtic’s six-goal victory was started and finished by Mohamed Elyounoussi, who opened the scoring in the third minute and then completed the rout in the 71st minute, adding to Edouard’s double and goals from Callum McGregor and James Forrest.

And the Norwegian forward was another player who drew praise from his manager, along with many others, including teenager, Jeremie Frimpong, who was making playing only the second professional game of his career.

“I thought Mo was fantastic from start to finish,” said Neil Lennon, “and I thought Jeremie Frimpong showed some great things in the second half.

“Scott Brown was immense, as was Callum McGregor – those two complement each other brilliantly – James Forrest had a great game. They were all bang on it and when they’re like that, they’re hard to stop.

“So it augurs well going forward. We’ve had a little dip, if you want to call it that, over the past two away games, but they’ve come back and put in an emphatic performance, and it could have been a lot more than six, and that’s not being disrespectful to Ross County. Anyone who was at the game would have seen that.”
