TO say that Neil Lennon was delighted with his team’s performance against Ross County is an understatement. The Celtic manager saw his side return to winning ways with an emphatic 6-0 victory, and the margin of victory could have been even greater, given the Hoops’ dominance from first minute to last.

Mohamed Elyounoussi and Odsonne Edouard both hit doubles, while there were also goals for Callum McGregor and James Forrest, and the Hoops boss said the most difficult decision after the game was picking a Man of the Match with so many outstanding performances.

Speaking after the game, Neil Lennon said: “I thought it was probably the most complete performance I’ve had, certainly in my second spell here, and maybe the best I’ve had in the two spells as manager.

“I thought we were brilliant in the first-half, and we were very unfortunate to go in at the break not leading by more. Our football at times was exhilarating – our athleticism, our appetite, the intensity to win the game – and then I threw down a challenge to them at half-time.

“I said, you can be one of two things – you can be a nice team that plays good football but give the opposition oxygen to stay in the game, or you can go out and be ruthless, and they answered me in spades today.

“We’ve got a good team but there’s more to come from them but that was a marvellous team performance all round.

“There was a freedom about them today, and a confidence. It’s not easy playing that well, and we were coming up against a team who are unbeaten in four, who’ve more than held their own and who can play a little bit.

“So the only frustration was that it was only 1-0 at half-time and at the back of your mind you’re thinking, could they get a goal, but we soon put that to bed in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

“We can enjoy our night. If we play like that for the majority of the games, then it’s going to take a good team to stop us. But we’re not getting carried away, and we now have a great game on Thursday night to look forward to.”
