FRASER Forster felt instantly at home as soon as he joined Celtic back in August on a season-long loan from Southampton.

He was working again with goalkeeping coach, Stevie Woods, while there were familiar faces in the dressing-room in the shape of Scott Brown and James Forrest. And, of course, he was reunited with his manager from his previous time with the club, Neil Lennon.

The England internationalist has now made eight appearances this season for the Hoops, with his most recent start against Livingston taking him up to 200 appearances for the club.

And more than looking forward to No.201 when Celtic take on Ross County at home today (Saturday), he and his team-mates are determined to return to winning ways in the Premiership following two disappointing results on the road.

Speaking ahead of the game, Forster said: “We got off to a great start in the league, but had a couple of indifferent results there, and it’s a bit a wake-up call.

“We always know at some point in the season you’re going to have these games, but it’s all about how you react, what you learn from that, how you build on that and how you turn them into wins.

“Playing at home, we want to go out and play as well as we can. We’ve obviously dropped points in the last two games, but we’re very much looking to go out and give a good reaction.

“A lot of the lads have been away, so we’ve not had much time to work as an actual team. It was only really on Friday, when they were all back and had done their recovery, that we could get to work again.

“But we’re looking forward to the game against Ross County. You can’t change the past and we hope to put it right today.”

Forster’s exceptional performances during his previous spell with Celtic earned him well-deserved international recognition, and he has won six caps with England.

Now 31, the goalkeeper is hoping that a return to Paradise could also lead to a return to Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

“It would be a dream to get back in the England squad,” he said, “but, first and foremost, I just concentrate on being here and trying to play well over the course of the season. The rest is out of my hands. If you’re playing well then it forces other people into making tough decisions.”

And as for whether he’s noticed any changes in his manager since he last worked with the Irishman, Forster said: “I think he has probably mellowed a bit but he’s still got that burning desire to win – he definitely hasn’t lost that. I think we probably try to get the ball down on the floor a bit more since the last time I was here, and we're trying to be a bit more expansive.

“Obviously, given the success over the last few years, a very good environment has developed, which started the last time the manager was here. So I think the good thing is the club has kept that environment.

“It’s a fantastic group of lads in the changing room and as a group we really want to succeed. That’s still the way it is.”
