THE international break has meant Celtic have had to wait almost two weeks to respond to their first defeat in the league this season, but Fraser Forster said he and his team-mates are determined to respond in the right way when they take on Ross County at home this Saturday.

“We’ll all be excited to get going again, especially with the desire to get a win on the board after that last result,” the goalkeeper told this week’s Celtic View. “We’ve had a bump in the road but it’s about how you respond to it.

“You need to take what you can from the game, learn from it and make sure it doesn’t happen again. We’ll be judged on how we bounce back and we’ll be looking to prove a point.

“It’s a little frustrating that it was the international break because we wanted to go into it off the back of a win but we can’t control what’s happened. The international boys were away working hard while the rest of us here were also working hard so we’ll be in a good place, ready for our next game.”

Forster, who made his 200 appearance for Celtic in that 2-0 defeat to Livingston, is nevertheless proud to have reached his double century with the club.

“It’s always nice to reach those milestones,” he said. “I’ve never set out to play a certain number of games, but when you tick them off and someone tells you that was your 200th game or your 100th clean-sheet, you’re always taken back a bit. It’s great to make that many appearances for a club like this, and hopefully there’s many more to come.

“If you’re making that many appearances for a big club like Celtic you’re definitely doing something right and it’s a great achievement in and of itself. You always need to deliver on the pitch and on the training ground. That’s always the main focus.

“The milestones aren’t something you think about until they’re ticked off, so it’s nice to take a minute to appreciate them.”
