RYAN Christie pointed to Celtic’s attacking threat ahead of tomorrow night’s (Thursday) Europa League game against Rennes and said the squad were confident of continuing their impressive form in front of goal.

Celtic’s Europa League Group Stage campaign gets underway against Rennes in France tomorrow night and both sides come into the game high on confidence after strong starts domestically.

Celtic have had their best start to a league campaign in nine years after Neil Lennon’s side made it five wins from five in the Premiership with a 1-0 win against Hamilton on Saturday (September 14).

Their opponents have similarly impressed in their league having defeated PSG and now sit second in Ligue 1 after five games.

Celtic’s first competitive game of the season was a 3-1 win away to FK Sarajevo and the Scottish champions have gone on to score in every one of their 12 other competitive games.

Ryan Christie said Celtic's recent form, and the steady flow of goals this season, has given the players plenty of confidence ahead of tomorrow night’s game at the Roazhon Park.

“We’re always confident in our attacking play,” said the 24-year-old. “We have a number of players in the squad who can do it. We’re scoring a high amount of goals domestically and in qualifying so long may that continue. With the form we’re on now we definitely come here posing an attacking threat.

“We’ve got players in the squad who have experience across Europe. That’s nice to have and in games like this you do need to rely on experience in some parts of the game. We’ve shown that after the frustration of the Cluj game and we turned it around very quickly against AIK. That away performance against them showed a lot of maturity and we’re wanting to kick on now.

Christie acknowledged Rennes’ strong start to the season and said Celtic were excited by what they expected would be a difficult challenge.

“We know how good they are, we can see that in how well they’ve started their domestic league. It’s two very good teams coming up against each other. We need to go into this expecting them to be very good.

“We’re very prepared. We’re excited to kick off the group. I think every game in this group will be tough. We have a big ambition to progress to the group stages and to do that you need to get result, especially away from home. We’re excited to get going.”
