OFF the back of an impressive midweek 2-0 win over Swedish champions, AIK, in the first-leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off, Celtic were in league action today (Sunday). And there was no European hangover for the Hoops as they cruised to victory...

SUNSHINE CELTS
The sun was shining on Celtic Park as Neil Lennon’s side shone against Hearts, winning 3-1 to maintain their 100 per cent start to the Premiership season. It means that Celtic have now scored 15 goals in their opening three league fixtures, conceding just three, and maintaining their position at the top of the table. There were plenty of ‘taps aff’ at Paradise as supporters basked in the August sunshine and enjoyed another impressive performance from the Treble Treble champions.

THE GREAT WALL RETURNS
Fraser Forster made his return to Paradise and helped the Hoops to victory over Hearts. He didn’t have much to do in the match, though he picked up a yellow card in the first-half, while he was unlucky with Hearts’ consolation goal. Forster initially saved Conor Washington’s spot-kick, but the Irishman was quickest to react to fire the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-1. But the Englishman, now wearing No.67, can be pleased with his first game back after joining the club on loan from Southampton.

BAYO’S FIRST START
Celtic’s Ivorian striker got his first start for the Hoops and marked it with a Man of the Match performance. He had a hand in two of Celtic’s three goals, though it looked as though Hearts captain, Christophe Berra, might have had the last touch with both of them. However, the 22-year-old caused the Hearts backline problems all afternoon and was thoroughly deserving of the standing ovation he received when he was replaced late in the game.

GOAL OF THE GAME
While debate raged over whether Bayo or Christophe Berra scored Celtic’s first and third goals, there was no doubt as to who scored the goal of the game. Callum McGregor’s stunning left-foot shot from just outside the area on 54 minutes gave Joel Pereira in the Hearts goal absolutely no chance and confirmed Celtic’s control of the game. It was McGregor’s third goal of the campaign and was a characteristically stylish finish from the midfielder.

THE LAST WORD
Speaking after the game, Neil Lennon said: 'It was outstanding. Under the circumstances it’s as big a performance we’ve had. We scored three fantastic goals and then were disappointed to lose the goal through a penalty.'
