THERE is no doubting that ‘excitement’ was the buzzword for new Celtic goalkeeper, Chloe Logan, who, after five years with Stirling University, stressed she can’t wait to see where her second stint in the Hoops takes her.

Logan returns to the Hoops having been the first player to graduate through every level of the Girls’ Academy and into the first team before heading to Stirling, and after a long waiting game since the turn of the year, she’s ready to rediscover her love for the game as part of Eddie Wolecki Black’s team.

She said: “I’m very happy to be back and really excited to be here, and I think it’s a club moving in the right direction. It’s something I want to be part of, so I’m really excited to get back in.

“I spoke with Eddie at the beginning of the season and he was interested in me signing then, but due to commitments with university and some other things, I was tied up at Stirling, but I’ve taken a break away which I needed, and now I’m really excited to get back involved at a club that’s exciting and moving forward.

“It really helps too, that I’ve always had a nice relationship with Eddie and I think he’s a really good manager to have.”

Despite spending her formative years developing in the Hoops, it was her time based at Stirling University where she really cut her teeth. Notching up success playing in green for the SWPL and university league teams, Logan gained invaluable playing experience and a winning mentality.

However, with the demands, she took a step back before re-joining the Celts, in a move she thinks will benefit her in the long run.

She added: “For the last five years I’ve been playing in both the Premier League and BUCS (British University and College Sport), so I’ve been playing two games a week and managing work, my studies and that’s before I’m even training.

“So it was a build-up of a lot of mental energy I had to put in, so I had to take that step back to refresh myself and this has come at a good time.

“I actually have only ever played with two women’s clubs. I joined Celtic when I was 12 and I was actually the first person to graduate through the Celtic Academy. I was the first player to play through every age group, so from 13s, 14s, 15s, 17s and reserves before I made my debut at 15.

“My first Celtic start actually came against Falkirk, who are now Stirling so that was funny. I spent six years here, so here’s to six more.”

And, having had history with the club, the 23-year-old is under no illusions as to what lies in wait for her now 11 years after first signing, and understands just how big the task at hand is if she’s to displace Megan Cunningham in goals.

Logan said: “I know what’s expected when you’re at this club, in terms of effort, dedication, commitment and I’m fully aware of what I have to do to come in and get game-time.

“I’m walking into a squad not straight on to the pitch, so it’s up to me to earn my spot. But I’m looking forward to a different environment to what I’m used to.”

Celtic return to SWPL1 action on Sunday, August 4, against Rangers at K-Park, East Kilbride. Kick-off is 2pm and entry is £5 adults, £3 concessions and free for under-16s.
