Josip Juranovic
Josip Juranovic arrived at Celtic from Legia Warsaw in the August 2021, signing a five-year deal.
I want to show my ability in defending, but also crossing, assisting, running and giving everything to win the game.
The Croatian defender started his career at his home nation’s second-tier outfit NK Dubrava ZG, before moving to top-flight side Hajduk Split on a permanent basis in the January transfer window of 2015.
In five-and-a-half years, the defender made 165 appearances for Hajduk Split, assisting 13 times for his teammates and scoring three goals.
In the summer of last year, Juranovic swapped the Stadion Poljud for Legia Warsaw’s Marshall Jozef Pilsudski Stadium where he featured 41 times, making 10 assists for his peers and scoring twice along the way.
One of those goals came during his final appearance for the Polish Football Championship side, when he scored from 25 yards in a UEFA Europa League qualifier encounter against Slavia Prague.
After bursting forward on the counter-attack, the full-back struck through the ball with a devastating right-foot, which gave the opposition goalkeeper no chance.
At Legia Warsaw, Juranovic shared a dressing room with former Hoops stopper Artur Boruc, who the 26-year-old credits as instrumental in his move to Paradise.
COUNTRY BHOY
Josip Juranovic received his first cap at international level for Croatia in a friendly against Chile on January 11, 2017 at the age of 21.
That day, the full-back was an unused substitute, however played a full 90 minutes in an exhibition match against China three days later – when Ante Cacic’s side won 5-4 on penalty kicks after drawing 1-1 in normal time. Juranovic was fourth kick of the show-down and scored.
The defender next featured for his country in 2020 in the UEFA Nations League, before being selected for Croatia’s EURO 2020 squad.
